Daniel Schwartz, 71, Goshen, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 3, 1947, in Allen County, to Christian and Emma (Graber) Schwartz.
On Aug. 22, 1968, in Goshen, he married Mary Zehr, who survives.
In addition to his wife, surviving are six daughters, Anita (Stanley) Yoder, Etna Green, Emma Schwartz, Goshen, Martha (Kevin) Yoder, Topeka, Sara (Myron) Yoder, Nappanee, Verna (Dennis) Yoder, Middlebury, Anna Mary (Clyde) Lambright, Goshen; five sons, David (Retha) Schwartz, Daniel Jr. (Susan) Schwartz, Lonnie (Lora) Schwartz, Joseph (Margaret) Schwartz and James (special friend Elisa Miller) Schwartz, all of Goshen; 48 grandchildren; three sisters, Barbara Schmucker, New Haven, Verna Graber and Anna (Eli) Lengacher, both of Grabill; two brothers, Chris (Betty) Schwartz, Goshen, and Amos (Lillian) Schwartz, Grabill; four stepbrothers, Amos (Rebbecca) Miller and Jacob (Mary) Miller, both of Grabill, David (Leah) Eicher, New Haven, Joe (Anna) Eicher, Grabill; three stepsisters, Rosa Miller, Grabill, Elizabeth Schwartz, New Haven, and Lucy (Arthur) Schmucker, Grabill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, Rosa Miller; stepfather, Andrew Eicher; two brothers-in-law, Jonas Schmucker and Robert Graber; two stepbrothers, John Miller Jr. and Samuel (Martha) Miller; step brother-in-law, Joeseph Schwartz.
Daniel was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and was self-employed in woodworking for 17 years. He was ordained as minister in 1984 and later became a bishop April 23, 2006.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday, March 8, and all day Friday, March 9, at the family residence, 15563 Ind. 4, Goshen.
Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 10, also at the family residence. Services will be conducted by Bishop James Schlabach and the home ministers.
Burial will be at Miller Cemetery, Goshen.
Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury, is handling arrangements.
