Daniel  J. Slabach Jr.


It is with great sadness the family of Daniel Slabach Jr., 86, announces his passing Jan. 15, in Phoenix, Arizona, after a brief illness.
He was born in Middlebury, May 2, 1932, to Daniel Sr. and Amelia (Graber) Slabach.
Dan graduated from Goshen High School, was a retired electrician (Slabach Electric), and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He loved to read, learn, travel and was passionate about our country — a true patriot.
Surviving are his wife, Leora; daughters, Berta (Terry) Ernsberger and Kay Schmucker; stepsons, Rod (Tina) Slabach, Aaron Lankford and Ryan Lankford; stepdaughters, Jennifer Paluchniak and Dana Lankford; siblings, Martha Weirich, Fannie (Richard) Melton, Ruby (Glen) Hochstedler, Jean Matteson and Fran Bingaman; brothers, Mervin (Carol) Slabach and Leroy Slabach; five grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Danette Slabach; and sister, Betty Miller. A memorial service will take place Feb. 23, at 10 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3415 Pleasant Plain Ave., Elkhart.
Dan chose to donate his body to Midwestern University, Phoenix, for advanced medical education and research. Anatomical study takes approximately 18 months. When complete, burial will be at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury.
