Clyde "Mike" Hawn, 88, Elkhart, passed away peacefully in the company of his loving family, Nov. 23.
He was born Sept. 16, 1929, in Columbia City, to Adrian and Mary (Grubb) Hawn.
On Sept. 21, 1952, in Milford, he married EmmaJean Billet. She passed away Sept. 19, 2010, in Elkhart.
Surviving are his two daughters, Cindy Shafer and Peggy (Ralph) Garner, both of Elkhart; two grandsons, Nate (Michelle) Shafer, Lithia, Florida, and Nick Shafer, Elkhart; three great-grandsons, Kaden, Kyler and Jacob; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis L. Hawn.
Mike, a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, was a member of VFW Post 985.
His passion was fishing and he enjoyed sharing his catch with others. He worked as a carpenter and was among the members who helped break ground to build River Oaks Community Church, where he actively attended. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was loved by many.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, with funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy., Osceola. Pastor Tim Rowland will officiate the service.
Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
