Charles Eugene Grise

December 18, 1947 - March 07, 2019

Charles Eugene Grise Chuck Grise, 71, Goshen, passed away Thursday, March 7, from an accidental fire in his home. He was born in Goshen Dec. 18, 1947.
Surviving are his mother, Lola (York) Grise; wife, Diann (Blucker) Grise of 48 years; brother Richard (Sherry) Grise; brother Edward (Sandy) Grise; daughter, Kari (Bruce) McNamara; and sons, Gabriel Grise, Ryan Grise and Tom (Karen) Howard. He has five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Gabriel Eugene Grise.
Chuck encountered many different cultures as he attended six different schools around the country prior to eighth grade. This helped to develop his magnetic personality. Eventually, he returned to his hometown and graduated from Goshen High in 1966. A self-made man, he pioneered a successful career in Alum-A-Craft, serving the RV business for over 25 years. He cherished his pastime as a car enthusiast and especially the friendships made along the way.
Despite an accident in July 2012 that left him a quadriplegic, he continued to stay in touch with his relationships and never lost his determination to not give in to being incapacitated. He had many visitors who commented about his remarkable attitude, showing a smile and always adding humor. He was so thankful for the continued support from family and friends. He was outspoken and not timid to express his opinion. He left this world too early, and he will be missed by many.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 12, at Rieth-Rohrer-Ehret Funeral Home, 311 S. Main St., Goshen. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 417 S. Main St., Goshen. Father Royce Gregerson will officiate. The interment will be at a later date.
Donations in memory of Chuck may be made payable to the Goshen Fire Department, 209 N. Third St., Goshen, IN 46526. Please indicate Public Education on the check memo.

I never met Chuck (I'm also known as Chuck). I grew up in St. Joseph Co. and I am only a year younger. Charles E. was a descendant of Daniel Grise, I 'm a descendant of David Grise, who was Daniel's brother. Wish we had met! Thoughts are with the family.

I will always cherish the memories of going to California in Chuck's new 1968 Road Runner with him, Jim Swihart and Roy Kincaid! What a great time this trip was with good friends. Vickie and I want to offer our deepest condolences to "Mom" Grise and the rest of Chuck's wonderful family in your loss. We love you all and will be praying for you all.

For the brief moment we had together, I will treasure those moments of laughter, flee markets, casino trips, and being lockout of the van while you were sweating in it.
