Charles "Chuck"'s Story
Charles D. "Chuck" Reed, 92, of Syracuse, died Sunday, Sept. 24, at Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born March 28, 1925, in South Bend, to John and Eva Reed.
On Oct. 30, 1948, he married Aline Laughlin in Warsaw. She died Jan. 7, 2008.
Survivors include four children, Charles D. (Judy) Reed, Terry (Penny) Reed, Carol Yoder and William (Venitsi) Reed, all of Goshen; a stepson Robert McKinley, Elkhart; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ethel Hughes, Syracuse and Midge Adams, Nappanee.
Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Roger L. Tomolonson, and his beloved dog, Honey, a week ago.
He served with the U.S. Army and retired from Penn Controls where he worked for more than 40 years.
Chuck was a member of Healing Heart Community Church, Nappanee. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed auctions and built bird houses.
Friends may call Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home where a 10 a.m. Wednesday funeral service will take place. Pastor Todd Prough, Healing Heart Community Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Solomon Creek Cemetery, Syracuse.
