Carl "Fred"'s Story
Carl "Fred" Paulus, 81, of Crown Point, Indiana and North Port, Florida, formerly of Wakarusa, died 6:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Elkhart Hospice House.
He was born July 16, 1936, in Elkhart, to Arthur and Helen (Eby) Paulus. On Oct. 7, 1961, he married Barbara E. (Mack) Paulus and she died on April 30, 2011. He then married Barbara Ann (Stone) Poole-Paulus on Nov. 24, 2012.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Ann Poole-Paulus, Crown Point; daughters, Tracy (Kelly) Rhodes, Goshen, Tara (James) McGehee, Waxhaw, North Carolina, and Tamra (Robert) Eichelberger, Aiken, South Carolina; son, Trevor (Jennifer) Paulus, Edwardsburg, Michigan; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Carolyn (Jack) Jesse, Wakarusa, Donald (Tanya) Paulus, Middlebury, Dennis (Mary) Paulus, Elkhart, Byron (Sue) Paulus, Niles, Michigan; and an aunt, Esther Eby, Elkhart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Barbara, and a brother, Robert Duane Paulus.
Fred was a self-employed milk hauler and a member of Wakarusa Missionary Church and First Baptist Church in Venice, Florida. He was also a 1954 graduate of Wakarusa High School.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, and an hour before the 11 a.m. service Wednesday, Nov. 15, all at Wakarusa Missionary Church, 202 W. Waterford St., Wakarusa. Byron Paulus, brother, and Pastor Harold Knight of Wakarusa Missionary Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Olive (East) Cemetery.
