Byron's Story

Byron R. "Bud" Speicher, 79, Bluffton, passed away Saturday, July 15, at Markle Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born Feb. 10, 1938, in Goshen, to Ira and Rosella Hostetler Speicher.
He married Phyllis J. Zesiger in Albion, Nov. 19, 1984. She survives.
A graduate of Ligonier High School in 1956, he served in the Army Reserves.
Bud retired in 1994 from Freudenberg NOK in Ligonier as general manager. He was a former member of Maple Grove Church in Topeka.
Bud enjoyed landscaping and was an avid member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed politics, construction and sang in gospel groups for many years.
He is survived by two sons, Dean (Amanda) Speicher, Ligonier, and Randy (April) Speicher, Noblesville; two stepchildren, Sutton (Todd) Shalley, Bluffton, and Jonah Smith, Falls Church, Virginia; sister, Janice Lintz of Millersburg; and nine grandchildren.
A public graveside service will begin at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at Maple Grove Cemetery in Topeka with Harold Gingerich officiating. Burial will also be at the cemetery.
Memorials may be made to an agency of the donor's choice.
