Betty Irene Rink, 93, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Greencroft Health Care, Goshen.
She was born Oct. 3, 1923, in Muskegon, Michigan, to Kenneth and Irene (Blair) Barnes.
She is survived by her son, Charles (Carol) Rink; and daughter, Ellen (Phillip) Straw; two granddaughters, Sheri (Kevin) Miller and Shannon (Ken) Cross; two great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; a great-great-granddaughter; three stepgrandsons and a stepgranddaughter.
Betty's husband, Ellis, her parents and a sister preceded her in death.
When Betty was 6, her family moved to Northland in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where her grandfather owned a logging camp. When she was in the ninth grade (1937) she moved to Schoolcraft, Michigan, to live with her paternal grandparents and graduated from Schoolcraft High School at the age of 16.
In 1941, she met Ellis Rink and they married in 1942. During her married life she helped with the farming, owned the Millersburg Restaurant with her sister-in-law, managed Eby Pines Restaurant and retired from Society Bank as a commercial loan assistant after 22 years.
She loved her family, loved to help people and to feed anyone walking through her door. She and Ellis also enjoyed traveling when they could get away from farming chores.
Friends may call Monday, June 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen. Friends may also call one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, June 20, at Zion Community Church, Millersburg. The Rev. Steve Campagna will officiate. Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Greencroft Healthcare or Goshen Home Care and Hospice.
