Anna Mary's Story

Anna Mary Yoder, 85, of Goshen, passed away at 11:24 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at her residence as the result of a stroke that she had suffered a week ago. She was surrounded by her family after celebrating Christmas all together earlier that day.
She was born Dec. 18, 1932, in Intercourse, Pennsylvania, to Chris and Anna Mary (Fisher) Smoker. On Sept. 3, 1960, in Intercourse, she married Kenneth E. Yoder. He survives.
Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Anita Price of Selma; three sons, Steven (Sheila) Yoder of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, Carlton (Cindy) Yoder of Middlebury and Stan Yoder of Ligonier; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Beulah Martin of New Holland, Pennsylvania, and Alma (Clair) Groff of Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marian Esbenshade and Lillian Yoder; two brothers, Aquila Smoker and Alvin Smoker.
Anna Mary was a member of Bonneyville Mennonite Church for over 50 years, a homemaker and retired from Coachman Industries, where she had been a payroll clerk. She was a talented seamstress, enjoyed photography, working with ceramics, cake decorating and watching the many bluebirds and hummingbirds outside her living room window. She had a love for lighthouses, especially the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. She was known for her strong faith in her Lord Jesus and her selflessness, always placing family and friends needs before her own.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury. There will also be visitation from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, followed by a funeral procession leaving at 9:45 a.m. to go to a 10 a.m. graveside service at Grace Lawn Cemetery, Middlebury. A memorial service will then follow at 11 a.m. at Bonneyville Mennonite Church, Bristol. Services will be conducted by Pastors Philip and Julie Bender and Marcella Hershberger.
