Alice Rose Hanby, infant daughter of Rod Hanby and Anne Horst Hanby, was born Sunday, Aug. 27, at Goshen Hospital. She joined sisters Clara, 5, and Martha, 3, who were delighted to welcome their sister.
Alice was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome and lived at home until Sunday, Sept. 3, one week after her birth. During this time, she was loved, cuddled and sung to by her family, and she delighted them in all of the ways that newborns do.
She is survived by her parents and two sisters; her grandparents, Ken and Becky Horst, Goshen, and Janice Hanby, San Angelo, Texas; and her great-grandmothers, Mary Bontrager, Goshen, and Marian Horst, Olympia, Washington.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Kent Hanby; and great-grandfathers, Al Bontrager and Ivan Horst.
A memorial service will be conducted at Assembly Mennonite Church, Goshen.
Cremation will take place at Yoder-Culp Crematory.
Memorial contributions can be sent to Mennonite Central Committee Great Lakes Infant Care Kits (https://mcc.org/get-involved/kits/infant) or the Music Together Program at Goshen College Music Center (https://gcmusiccenter.org/music-together).
